The International Women’s Day

Just like every year, International Women’s Day took place on March 8th. The day is an important celebration honouring women’s achievements globally. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness over gender inequality issues, and fight for governments and citizens across the world to forge a more balanced and fair future. In honour of this day, Wide Strategy would like to share two positive initiatives for women in business that we have witnessed and took part in this month.

WEConnect International aims to connect women owned business enterprises with qualified multinational buyers around the globe. To join WEConnect you must be 51% owned by one or more women and operate a legally registered business in any sector. WEConnect International educates, trains, assesses and connects women-owned businesses around the world with corporations committed to global supply diversity and inclusion. We are impressed by the work WEConnect is doing to acknowledge the work of women around the world, and empower women-owned businesses to succeed in global markets.

Secondly, we would like to highlight Angel Academe’s member event this month: Funding Trends. During the panel discussion, the speakers discussed future funding trends and why entrepreneurs should do their due diligence for the investors they are targeting. Speaker, Anya Navidski, discussed the market closure for female founders, noting that as little as 2.2% of capital goes to female-run companies. Her company, Voulez Capital, is Europe’s first VC for female founders. It aims to address this market failure by solely investing in female founders.

Wide Strategy is inspired by the women all over the world who are fighting for equal representation, equal pay, equal education, equal rights and equal dignity. We join everyone in celebrating the strong, resilient and inspirational women in our lives.
