Britain’s post-Brexit Identity

"Britain’s post-Brexit identity" was the topic of the 3rd annual thought leadership event series that Wide Strategy organised on behalf of one of its customers from the banking sector.

The event took place on Tuesday February 4th, 2020 in Mayfair London. Dr. Spyros Economides, Associate Professor of International Relations and European Politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, in conversation with Mr. Yannis Palaiologos, EU correspondent of Kathimerini and SKAI, referred to the impact of Brexit to Britain’s political transformation and explored the country’s new global direction.

Brexit has resulted not only in the departure of the UK from the EU but also in a significant change in the British political landscape and the UK’s position in the international arena. There are reconfigured domestic political formations with new cleavages of the terms left-right, urban-rural, north-south, working class-middle class, old and young which have significant electoral implications at least for the next decade. In addition, the three years since the Brexit referendum have raised significant questions about the role of the UK in the world -both geopolitically and commercially- and whether it is a power in decline”

said Professor Economides.

The thought leadership event series was launched three years ago, aspiring to provide the bank’s clients with forward thinking analysis on relevant political and economic global challenges.
